Reaching Out

Cathy Hartle

Cathy has always dreamed of being a missionary.   With God’s direction and help she went to nursing school and in 2002  graduated with her masters degree and became a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She worked in a clinic in a small town in central Missouri.  Over the last few years she had an opportunity to go on five short term medical mission teams to Guatemala.   She fell in love with the Mayan Indians, and believe the timing is right to go and work as a full-time missionary and health-care provider.

Her commitment is for two years, maybe more if God wills.  Her job will be to treat patients at the clinic run by local missionaries, John and Sharon Harvey.  These poor people have some of the same health-care needs that we have.  Patients are dismissed to early from the hospital and are left to care for open wounds without the means or ability to do it with proper care.  To meet this and many other needs, Sharon plans to start a home health-care program.

She has been given the opportunity to move to Chichicastenango, Guatemala beginning in 2008 and work with the Mayan people as a health-care provider.  She will need prayer and financial support while in Guatemala.  Would you seek God’s
direction about  supporting her in this vision?
